Prevention For Cancer Found In Naked Mole Rats!

It seems as though researchers have fund a prevention for cancer in naked mole rats. In their cells they carry a gene called p16 that makes cells "claustrophobic" which prevents the cells from multiplying. They tested it on the naked mole rats and found an amazing result. They gave their cells a tumor and they barely even changed. Other rodents such as rats' cells but become fully cancer infected. The researchers found out that no naked mole rat in the world has ever had cancer before. These results led Vera Gorbunova to ask about cancer in other long living rodents like the grey squirrel. She has recently found answers to her questions. "An overcrowding warning gene that the naked mole rat expresses its cells' is what she found. When they tested the mole rats cells they found that it refused to grow and that the p16 made it so that it couldn't reproduce as fast. They also found that p27, another gene, prevents cellular overcrowding. Now they just have to find out if these genes can be used in humans.

I was really happy after I finished reading about this. With naked mole rats and their p16 genes they will save us all. It seems as if rodents are the key to Now humankind had a way to prevent cancer from taking its death-toll. Many people die with cancer and now all those people cab stay alive and enjoy the rest of their lives! The only problem is that it may not work on humans. If that happens we might have to go back to doing hard work to figure out another cure for cancer. The death toll will increase again making its mark on humankind. We will just have to wait and see if our researchers can utilize the facts they found to impact us greatly by finally finding a cure for cancer!

Volcanoes Played Pivotal Role In Ancient Ice Age, Mass Extinction

This article is about how volcanoes played an essential role in the ancient ice age. At first volcanoes caused global warming, but as time went on the climate was thrown off balance and caused an ice age to start. Originally a scientist, Saltzman and his team linked global warming with the Appalachian Mountains. They have recently found out the rest of the story about the cause of the ice age. Giant volcanoes made the Appalachians rise and the ice age quickly followed. The volcanoes spewed carbon into the air and the Appalachians removed it, but suddenly the eruptions stopped which cause the ice age to begin. This cycle happened for 10 million years. Life flourished deep in the oceans too. After the eruptions stopped the Appalachian still weathered ( the way they removed carbon dioxide) which released too much cold air and eventually the ice age started. By the time of 445 million years ago glaciers had covered the top of the super continent Gondwana. More than two thirds of all life on earth had died out. Saltzman found out many things and that ash was the key to the whole story somehow. Next Saltzman and his team will research ash and its role in the whole story.

I believe that these team of researchers are not wrong but they aren't completely right either. There are many different theories as to how the ice age actually started. Though they have shed some light on the topic, they don't have full evidence. But they have figured out that ash is the main element in the whole story. It could have also been a combination of all the theories. A combination of them all would have made the world a place of dread and death. And that is what happened, 2/3 of all the life on earth had died. Although many researchers will keep researching this topic, I think that they will never find an answer.

I read three books for summer reading.

One of the books I read was Maximum Ride: The Angel Experiment

I believe the author of this book, James Patterson is a very fun loving person. The book has many action scenes and the main characters are always in some kind of trouble. The genre of the book is fiction and is fantasy. James Patterson seems to have a good sense of humor too hence all the comedy in the novel. Overall he is a guy that just likes to have fun and laugh.

Bullying (Man's inhumanity to Man)

Everyone knows that bullying is wrong! But why do people still do it? In Lord of The Flies, Piggy gets bullied by Jack all the time. Piggy gets bullied because Jack is jealous of Piggy's intelligence. The main reason why Jack bullies Piggy is because Piggy is close to Ralph who is the source of power. Jack wants to be friends with Ralph so he can harness the power.

We can't put an end to bullying in our society because we cannot cure everyone's insecurities. Bullies bully others because they have problems at home or at school. They take it out on other people. Also you can't put an end to hatred and revenge. For some hatred drives them to do what they do. Even justice won't stop the hatred. Hatred will spawn again. Pain will cause more hatred and hatred will cause monsters among ourselves. It will never stop meaning we can never truly get rid of bullies and killers in our society.
